Sponsored by Byram Township Historical Society
On Saturday, June 22, Byram Township Historical Society will present Waterloo Canal Day, in partnership with the Canal Society of New Jersey and Waterloo Village. In the 19th Century, Waterloo Village was part of Byram that then also included what is now Stanhope and Hopatcong Boroughs. Byram was approximately half-way along the Morris Canal's 102-mile journey across the state, from Phillipsburg to Jersey City, and had all the components necessary to become a thriving canal town. For many, today's restored Waterloo Village is the place that most completely identifies the heritage of northern New Jersey, with Byram at its center.

Make plans to visit Historic Waterloo Village for a full day of things to see and do.

The day will include a full schedule of interpretive tours about various historical trades, crafts, industries, and transportation systems throughout history, as well as activities for children. Enjoy historic building tours, including the gristmill, the Canal Society of NJ Museum as well as the Morris Canal Boat Exhibit. The event runs from 10am - 4pm and admission and parking are FREE!

Waterloo Village is located at 525 Waterloo Road in Byram Township (Stanhope).
